本文以比较文学中的主题学与跨学科研究为理论基础，初步探讨了中国当代作家史铁生作品所蕴涵的哲理主题。
第一章首先概述了史铁生的创作历程，再简评了目前对史铁生作品的研究现状，最后提出本文立论的角度，即从比较文学的视角，参照西方相关哲学思潮，对史铁生作品表达的主题进行评述。
第二章讨论了上帝与彼岸世界的主题。本文认为，史铁生由宿命论走进上帝，再因差别说告别上帝，同时解构了彼岸世界。他是中国当代宗教意识浓厚的作家，但并非宗教信徒，而仅仅是从人文的角度探讨宗教，以阐发自己的观点。
第三章评述了史铁生的过程说。既然解构了上帝与天国，史铁生的视线自然转回了此生，提出了过程说作为度过此生的精神支柱。但过程说的悖论较为明显，虚设目的以便前行的做法，其现实性令人怀疑。
第四章评价了爱的主题。史铁生浪漫地将爱比作世俗的宗教，性即为爱的语言与仪式，爱于性中实现，性于爱中升华。爱在史铁生的笔下已成为人间的乐土。尽管不乏艰辛坎坷，但爱终能超越现实。
第五章再次回顾了史铁生的心路历程，认为他对人生很多根本问题的看法既有一定深度，同时又过于理想化，缺乏足够的现实意义。但人生的终极性问题本无定论，而追问本身就象征着人类的本质特征，这也是史铁生这位真诚的思想者给我们的启示。
Abstract
This thesis discusses some of the philosophical themes in modern Chinese writer Shi Tie-sheng’s literary works in the basis of thematology and interdisciplinary studies in comparative literature.
Chapter One briefly introduces the writer’s literary career, the current research on his works and the approach of this thesis, i.e., to analyze those themes in comparison with some western philosophical thoughts.
Chapter Two discusses the themes of God and paradise. Shi Tie-sheng firstly approached God as a fatalist, and then his failure in finding a satisfactory explanation to the relationship between God and human suffering led him to denying God and paradise, partly due to his problematic logical reasoning.
Chapter Three deals with the writer’s theory that life is an ephemeral process, in order to avoid desperation, one has to purposefully set up certain goals to achieve, although the goals are themselves meaningless with death as the ultimate destination. But his theory seems hard to put to practice because of the unsolved paradox of how to grasp hope under the guidance of those meaningless purposes.
Chapter Four comments on the theme of love. Shi Tie-sheng compares love to a kind of secular religion with sex as its prayer and sacrament. In his works love is also a mundane paradise with power of conquering the harsh reality.
Based on the above arguments, the conclusion in Chapter Five is as follows: pondering deeply over many ultimate questions, Shi Tie-sheng offers us his sincere but problematic answers. His unquenchable ultimate concern represents the essential nature of human being, and he will be featured as a diligent and sincere thinker in contemporary Chinese literary world.
